meditation on the vileness of the body
不浄観 (Jpn fujo-kan )
Also, meditation on the impurity of the body, or simply meditation on impurity.
The practice of meditating on the inherent impurity of the human body in order to overcome craving and greed. One of the five meditations, which are aimed at stemming desire and quieting the mind.
Regarding meditation on the vileness of the body, a man, for example, may aim to sever his attachment to the physical beauty of a woman and stifle his desire for her by meditating on the image of her as a corpse undergoing the process of decay until finally only bones remain.
